Eko Hot Blog reports that speaking to journalists in Benin on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, the State Commandant, Mr. Saidi Akintayo, confirmed that more than 2,000 personnel have been deployed to guarantee a hitch-free holiday for residents and visitors alike.

This massive deployment is part of a proactive strategy to secure critical infrastructure and public spaces.
According to Akintayo, the personnel are drawn from various specialized units, including the Commandant’s Monitoring Team and the specialized Female Squad.
These officers will be focused on high-traffic areas such as recreational centers, traditional prayer grounds, and major highways, which often see increased activity during the festive season.
The Command has also emphasized the importance of inter-agency synergy. Akintayo revealed that the NSCDC is working in close collaboration with other security branches to ensure rapid response capabilities to any emergencies.

“Area Commanders and Divisional Officers have been directed to intensify patrols, strengthen intelligence gathering, and adopt proactive security measures within their jurisdictions,” he added.
Congratulating the Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, the Commandant urged the public to celebrate responsibly and within the law.
He reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, warning that any individual or group planning to disrupt the peace in Edo State will face the full weight of the law.
Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security operatives to maintain the current atmosphere of safety across the state.
