EKO HOT BLOG reports that he noted that Eid al-Fitr highlights the core values of Islam, including devotion, sacrifice and obedience to God, stressing that the celebration provides an opportunity for individuals and communities to renew their commitment to these ideals.
“The festival is a powerful reminder of faith, sacrifice, and devotion to God, values that inspire hope and strengthen shared humanity,” he said.
The former president urged Nigerians to draw lessons from Ramadan and Eid to promote national unity and mutual understanding across the country.
“As Muslims around the world reflect on the spirit of obedience and generosity, let us as a nation draw from these virtues to deepen unity, show compassion, and build bridges of brotherhood,” Jonathan added.
He also called on citizens across religious and ethnic divides to work collectively towards national development, emphasising the need for peace and cooperation.
“I call on all Nigerians to embrace the lessons of Eid by working together for peace, progress, and prosperity,” he said.

Jonathan’s message comes as Muslims across Nigeria and other parts of the world mark the end of Ramadan, a period characterised by fasting, prayer and acts of charity.
