The United States government has confirmed plans to deport 130 Nigerian nationals convicted of various criminal offences, including advance fee fraud, illegal possession of weapons, drug related crimes and assault.\

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the development was disclosed in a statement and document published by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
According to the document titled “Worst of the Worst,” the individuals listed are among criminal immigrants currently facing deportation proceedings in the country.
The department said the move is part of ongoing enforcement actions targeting individuals convicted of serious crimes.
“The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is highlighting the worst of the worst criminal aliens arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement,” the statement said.
The DHS noted that the deportation exercise forms part of the immigration enforcement agenda under President Donald Trump, aimed at removing undocumented migrants involved in criminal activities.
“Under DHS leadership, the hardworking men and women of DHS and ICE are fulfilling President Trump’s promise and carrying out mass deportations starting with the worst of the worst including the illegal aliens you see here,” the statement added.
Authorities said the affected individuals were convicted of offences ranging from financial crimes such as advance fee fraud to drug trafficking, illegal firearms possession and violent assault.
The deportation process is expected to be carried out by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement following the completion of all legal procedures.
