Odewunmi, who attended the groundbreaking ceremony on Friday alongside other student leaders, said the project reflects growing attention to student welfare in tertiary institutions.

He praised both the Minister and the YABATECH management for what he called consistent efforts to improve learning conditions and student life across campuses in Nigeria.
According to him, Alausa’s responsiveness to student concerns has helped restore confidence within the student community, while the Rector was lauded for what he described as innovative and student focused leadership.
Odewunmi added that the institution’s management has demonstrated commitment to improving infrastructure and promoting policies that enhance academic experience.
He, however, called on the Federal Government to extend similar welfare interventions to lecturers and non academic staff in order to achieve balanced progress in the education sector.

He also referenced the Minister’s earlier engagement with students during a visit last year, noting that promises made regarding issues affecting graduates had since been fulfilled, with affected students now participating in the National Youth Service Corps programme.
Odewunmi expressed appreciation for what he described as the Minister’s commitment to delivering on assurances given to students, while also acknowledging fellow student leaders who attended the event.
