EKO HOT BLOG reports that despite a disappointing season, Liverpool remain fourth in the Premier League table and are still in contention for UEFA Champions League qualification. Slot is also expected to remain in charge of the club ahead of next season.
The Dutch manager, who was celebrated by fans after guiding Liverpool to the Premier League title in his debut season, admitted supporters were frustrated but insisted the team would improve significantly next season.
“I do,” Slot said when asked if he believed he could win the fans back.
“Not this season by the way. This season they will have their opinion and it will not change.
“If we can have the summer that we are planning to have, then I’m 100 percent convinced that we will be a different team next season than we are now.”
Liverpool’s season was rocked early by tragedy following the death of forward Diogo Jota in a car accident while travelling back to England for pre-season.
The Reds also struggled with injuries despite spending £450 million during the transfer window. Key players including Mohamed Salah, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike missed the Chelsea match, while club-record signing Alexander Isak only featured as a substitute.
Slot admitted the squad lacked depth and fitness this season.
“It’s really clear what we are lacking this season,” he said.
The Liverpool manager also defended his decision to replace Ngumoha, explaining that the 17-year-old had suffered cramp.

“I’m the manager, I need to make decisions. And sometimes people are happy with them, sometimes they are not,” Slot added.
