A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has endorsed former President Goodluck Jonathan as its candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the endorsement was announced on Saturday during a special convention organised by the group loyal to former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki, at its headquarters in Abuja.

Party delegates and stakeholders attending the gathering ratified Jonathan’s nomination, paving the way for his emergence as the faction’s standard-bearer for the next general election.

Although the former president was absent from the event, a Certificate of Return issued in his honour was received by Bayelsa lawmaker Fred Agbedi, who represented him at the convention.
The decision was unveiled before party members and supporters aligned with the Turaki-led bloc, which has continued to operate separately amid ongoing leadership disputes within the PDP.
The development adds another dimension to the evolving political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections, with various parties and factions already positioning themselves for the contest.
