The personal interaction highlights a rare moment of political unity as the state grapples with a series of high-profile security challenges affecting both public officials and vulnerable local residents.
The traumatic incident occurred on Wednesday when Adelabu’s younger sister, identified as 43-year-old Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, was targeted by kidnappers while conducting a routine morning school run with her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul.

According to an official statement issued by Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro, the family had only recently relocated back to the capital city of Ibadan.
The move was a temporary arrangement while Mrs. John-Paul was actively finalizing long-term travel plans to permanently relocate with her young children to join her husband in the United States of America before the armed gang disrupted their lives.
The brazen kidnapping has intensified existing public security anxieties across the region, prompting an immediate and aggressive response from state law enforcement.
The Oyo State Police Command announced a full-scale criminal investigation into the ambush, explicitly stating that multiple elite tactical squads and local security units have been dispatched into suspected forest hideouts and transit routes.
Police leadership assured the distressed family and the public that all available state resources are being utilized to navigate the rescue operation safely, ensure the unconditional freedom of the mother and her twins, and bring the orchestrators of the crime to justice.
