The All Progressives Congress (APC) says it has completed the electronic submission of its candidates for all elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections, doing so before the initial deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Eko Hot Blog gathered APC National Chairman, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, announced the development on Sunday, describing it as evidence of the party’s organisational capacity and readiness for the upcoming electoral contest.

INEC had originally scheduled August 8, 2026, as the deadline for political parties to upload their candidates through its online platform. The commission later extended the deadline by three days to August 11 after some parties appealed for additional time to complete the process.
Yilwatda said the APC finished its submissions before the original deadline, covering candidates contesting positions ranging from the State Houses of Assembly to the presidential election.
He said the timely completion showed that the party had put adequate structures in place to coordinate its operations nationwide.
According to him, the exercise involved the nomination, documentation, verification and online submission of thousands of candidates across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Yilwatda, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, said completing the process required cooperation among the national secretariat, state chapters, candidates and election teams.
He argued that the ability of a political party to manage its internal affairs efficiently should be considered when voters assess its capacity to govern.
The APC chairman said political parties must demonstrate planning, discipline, coordination and compliance with electoral requirements rather than relying solely on campaign promises.
He described the early completion of the candidate-upload exercise as more than an administrative achievement, saying it had given the APC additional time to concentrate on other preparations for the 2027 elections.
These preparations, he said, would include campaign planning, grassroots mobilisation, candidate engagement, policy communication and efforts to strengthen unity within the party.
Yilwatda urged APC members to remain disciplined and united, stressing that completing the submission process marked only one stage of the party’s preparations.
He also commended members of the National Working Committee, state executives, candidates, election officials and other party personnel who contributed to the successful completion of the exercise.
The 2027 general elections are expected to witness strong competition as opposition parties seek to challenge the APC’s hold on the presidency and make gains at federal and state levels.
While other parties have until August 11 to complete their submissions following INEC’s extension, the APC said it has moved on to the next phase of its preparations as it seeks to retain power in 2027.
