The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of the Aiye Confraternity cult group and recovered a locally made Beretta pistol and 9mm live ammunition in the Mushin area of the state.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the suspects were arrested by operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit following intelligence on the activities of cult groups operating in the area.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebesi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, August 10.
According to the statement, operatives first arrested Irawo Moshod, who allegedly identified himself as a former chairman of the Aiye Confraternity cult group.
The police said Moshod provided information about the activities of the group and allegedly confessed to involvement in several killings in Mushin and other parts of Lagos State.
“Acting on information provided by the suspect, operatives proceeded to Idi-Oro, Mushin, where one locally made Beretta pistol and one 9mm live ammunition were recovered,” the statement said.
Following the recovery, the police arrested three other suspected members of the group at Aganran, by Ojuwoye.
The suspects were identified as Abayomi James, 29; Farouq Bankole, 28; and Steven Sunday, 19.
The Command said the three suspects allegedly admitted to being members of the Aiye Confraternity and told investigators that the recovered firearm was obtained from a man identified as Rilwan, whom they described as the group’s number one member.
The four suspects remain in police custody and are assisting with investigations, while the Command said efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the group.
Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the VCRU operatives for what he described as a proactive and intelligence-driven approach to tackling cult-related criminal activities.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and protecting residents across the state.
The police commissioner also warned cultists and other criminal elements to desist from criminal activities or face the full weight of the law.
