Sheikh Aliru cautions youths against ungodliness, opens up on emergence as Chief Imam of Epe
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Sheikh Abdulrahman Abiola Sadala Aliru, the Grand Chief Imam of Epe Division, has cautioned youths in Epe to shun ungodly acts, social vices, and embrace the teachings of the Quran.
He gave this advice on the Radio Lagos program, Epe Lawa, on Thursday 20th January 2022.

The Chief Imam of Epe was emphatic in his admonition for the youths on the program anchored by Mr Kawojue Sheriff, son of late ace broadcaster and Yoruba orator, Alhaji Toyin Kawojue.
“As for our youths, the state of affairs in our society presently has become barbaric. Everyone should be vigilant and take full responsibility for their children. If you have a son and he has started hair braiding, be watchful because he’s already threading a ruinous path.
“And as barbaric as the world is, we have children and youths who can read the Quran by heart. We have young people who have become clerics from their teenage years and those are a few examples of our wishes for our youths.
“They should desist from drinking, drug use and despicable companies. When one disobeys God, he would suffer the consequences both on earth and in the hereafter,” he said.
Speaking further on the program, Chief Imam of Epe assured that his leadership would be all-embracing.
He buttressed that whenever a traditional King ascends the throne in any town, all Chiefs would extend their hands of fellowship and support him with prayers. On this note, he declared that his leadership would have to sit together with the others to chart the way forward.
“How will Islam attain enviable heights in Epe Division is what we should be concerned about. The blazing fire of Islam must not dim in Epe because the greatest legacy that our forefathers left behind was the “Epe oni Al-Qurani” identity (Epe, the owner of the Quran).
“The significance of Quranic knowledge is to use it to bequeath legacies of the Islamic faith with life-changing teachings from Almighty Allah. That’s our objective and may Almighty Allah make it easy for us,” he posited.
Making reference to his emergence as Grand Chief Imam of Epe and the rotational propositions, he said his selection by the committee set up by the Government is deeply entrenched in the history of the First mosques across the Five Divisions of Lagos.
“It’s not a matter of being rotated, it is a matter of history based on the first mosque to propagate Islam irrespective of its size. Ours won’t be the first across Divisions in Lagos State. Ikorodu, Ikeja, Badagry, Lagos Island all have their history and the Grand Chief Imam title cum the leadership of League of Imams and Alfas is domiciled in all the first mosques. It is clear enough and devoid of controversy and irregularities,” he said.
Earlier, Sheikh Abiola Sadala explained that the Government stepped in to resolve the differences through a Committee that was set up comprising Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja and Lagos Island Islamic faith leaders, having the Chief Imam of Lagos as the head.
He noted that all parameters for ascension were critically considered, stating that all Divisions in the State have the Grand Chief Imam from their First Central Mosques.
He said that both Epe, Ibeju/Lekki, Agbowa and Eredo are all one, suing for unity and togetherness.
Sheikh Sadala claimed that according to history, Lagos was the first dating back to 1775, followed by Badagry in 1831 and Epe in 1851. These first three mosques were given an Islamic staff of office by the Sultan of Turkey which was presented by the then Governor of Lagos State, George Denton.
He stated that the First Epe Central Mosque Chief Imams according to his progenitors facilitated the establishment of mosques and also make adequate provisions for Alfas to propagate Islam and spread the message of the Holy Quran across some areas in the Epe Division.
