Cross River Suspends Traffic Enforcement for Festive Season

Cross River Halts Traffic Enforcement for Festive Season

  • Traffic enforcement in Cross River State is suspended for three weeks.
  • The suspension runs from December 24, 2024, to January 13, 2025.
  • The move aims to ease mobility for Carnival visitors and Christmas festivities.

The Cross River State government has paused all traffic enforcement activities across the state to accommodate the festive season. This decision, announced by Commander Bassey Okokon, Public Relations Officer of the Traffic Management and Regulatory Agency, reflects Governor Bassey Otu’s “The People First” agenda.

In a statement, the agency’s Director General, Effiong Umoh, said the suspension will ensure a smooth experience for the anticipated influx of visitors attending the famous Carnival and other Christmas events. The break in enforcement began on December 24 and will continue until January 13, 2025.

Umoh encouraged both residents and visitors to follow road safety rules during this period while enjoying the state’s vibrant celebrations. He emphasized that the gesture is meant to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all.

“As we host guests from far and wide, we aim to make this season joyful and stress-free for everyone,” Umoh stated. “We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and wish a safe and happy holiday season to all.”
