Operatives of the Edo State Security Corps have arrested a suspected cultist, Emmanuel Keta, over the attempted murder of a junior secondary school student in Edo State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the victim, identified as Naomi Monday, a JSS3 student from the Agbado community in Iguobazuwa, Ovia South-West Local Government Area, is currently receiving treatment after sustaining serious injuries.

According to sources, the suspect was allegedly initiated into a cult group in December 2025 and was tasked with killing multiple individuals as part of a promotion ritual.
He was said to have attacked the girl at her residence shortly after she returned from school, inflicting machete wounds on her without provocation.
Neighbours reportedly intervened after hearing her cries for help, forcing the suspect to flee the scene before he was later tracked and apprehended by the security corps.
A family member, Esther Monday, called for justice, revealing that the victim is battling for her life in the hospital.

Confirming the incident, spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, Eno Ikoedem, described the case as attempted murder, noting that the suspect had confessed during interrogation.
She added that the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, has ordered the transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
Authorities say the suspect will be prosecuted in accordance with the law as investigations continue.
