ERC Slams NYSC’s Policy on HND Graduates
The Education Rights Campaign (ERC) has condemned the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for excluding Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates who completed their National Diploma (ND) through part-time programs.
ERC described this policy as discriminatory and a setback to the efforts of hardworking Nigerian students.
In a statement signed by Deputy National Coordinator Ogunjimi Isaac and National Mobilization Officer Adaramoye Michael Lenin, ERC called for the immediate reversal of the policy.
They argued that it lacks logical justification, as the affected graduates have successfully completed their full-time programs as required by NYSC criteria.
ERC further highlighted the inconsistency of the policy, noting that it does not apply to graduates of foreign institutions who transitioned from part-time to full-time programs.
This selective discrimination, they said, perpetuates inequality within the Nigerian education system.
The organization urged NYSC to reverse the decision and mobilize affected students without delay.
They also called on NANS and NAPS to actively defend students’ rights and encouraged students to organize resistance against unfair policies.
