The development was disclosed on Tuesday in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Funsho Adebiyi.
Under the initiative, passengers using NRC train services nationwide will pay half of the current approved fares throughout the six-day period.
According to the ministry, the move is aimed at helping Nigerians cope with travel costs during the festive season while making movement more convenient for citizens celebrating Eid-el-Kabir.
Adebiyi said the intervention was introduced by the Federal Government through the Ministry of Transportation as part of efforts to support Nigerians.
He explained that travellers who had already bought tickets before the announcement at the previous rates would not be disadvantaged.
The ministry stated that such passengers would receive rebates amounting to 50 per cent of their ticket value, which could be used for future train trips before June 1, 2026.

Despite the temporary fare adjustment, train operations and schedules will continue as normal during the celebration period.
The ministry also expressed appreciation to Nigerians for their patronage of rail services and extended Eid-el-Kabir greetings to Muslim faithful across the country.
It wished passengers a peaceful celebration and reaffirmed its commitment to improving transportation services nationwide.
