- Obi’s media office described the report as false and misleading
- It maintained that Obi should not be linked to any primary election exercise that never occurred
Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has dismissed reports circulating online claiming he secured 45 million votes in an alleged presidential primary election conducted by the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the claim, which gained traction on social media and some online platforms, alleged that the former Labour Party presidential candidate emerged victorious in a primary exercise organised by the NDC.

However, Obi’s media office described the report as false and misleading.
In a statement released on Tuesday by the spokesman of the Peter Obi Media Office, Ibrahim Umar, it was stated that no such primary election took place and no official results were produced.
The statement said the office had become aware of figures being circulated online, allegedly presenting a breakdown of votes from what it described as a non-existent primary election linked to Obi.
According to the media office, the reported figures have no factual basis and should be disregarded by the public.

Supporters, media organisations and members of the public were urged not to give credibility to the publication.
The statement further clarified that all official updates concerning Obi’s political activities would only be communicated through authorised and verified channels.
The media office also accused those behind the report of attempting to falsely associate the former Anambra State governor with fabricated political narratives.
It maintained that Obi should not be linked to any primary election exercise that never occurred.
