Lekki Local Council Development Area on Monday presented its proposed ₦14.77 billion budget for the 2026 fiscal year, setting out a broad development agenda aimed at promoting inclusive growth, strengthening security and improving the living standards of residents across the council.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the budget presentation, held at the Lekki LCDA Council Chamber, was witnessed by the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Musediku Ola Monsuru, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Rasaq Bamidele Kasali, members of the Finance and General Purpose Committee, management staff, traditional rulers, political leaders and representatives of various community groups.
Presenting the proposal themed “Budget of Inclusive Prosperity,” the Executive Chairman said the 2026 budget was conceived as a forward-looking plan to create an enabling environment and ensure shared development for all communities in the council.
According to him, “this budget was christened out of deep thought and a futuristic plan to provide an enabling environment and a good life for all citizens of Lekki LCDA.”
Hon. Kasali explained that the proposed spending priorities focus on critical infrastructure such as construction and rehabilitation of roads, environmental control, security of lives and property, education and health services.
He stressed that the prevailing economic realities have made it imperative for government at all levels to be more people-centered, noting that “the interest of the citizens must always come first, and our administration will not relent in making life more meaningful for our people.”
A major thrust of the 2026 budget is security, as the chairman disclosed plans to curb criminal activities linked to the influx of non-residents into the area.
He said “key interest will be focused on securing our communities from the influx of non-community members who come under the guise of doing business but with other motives.”
He further revealed that the council, in collaboration with the Lagos State Government and the Ministry of Environment, has concluded the first phase of the removal of illegal shanties along the Lekki–Dangote Refinery corridor, adding that strategic planning is ongoing for the second phase of the exercise.
To ensure effective delivery, Hon. Kasali announced the establishment of a strategy and monitoring committee to oversee the implementation of the budget, stressing that “projects and programmes of the council will be well monitored to ensure all community members benefit from the prosperity of the land.”
Earlier in his remarks, the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Musediku Ola Monsuru, welcomed stakeholders and assured that the House would give the budget the necessary legislative scrutiny in the overall interest of the people.

Also speaking, the Head of Department, Budget, Lekki LCDA, Mr. Bakare Olusola, described the proposal as an inclusive budget designed to carry everyone along.
According to him, “when every household is fine, that is when good governance can be achieved.”
He described Lekki as “the next Lagos,” citing major investments such as the Dangote Refinery and the Lagos Free Zone, and emphasized that solid security remains the foundation for all other development initiatives.
He noted that “when everywhere is secure, that is when we can all enjoy the projects already in the pipeline.”
The event concluded with a call on residents, traditional institutions and community stakeholders to support the council’s development drive, as the chairman urged collective responsibility, saying that only through unity can prosperity reach every nook and cranny of Lekki LCDA.
