- Massive sanitation exercise held across Lekki LCDA communities
- Chairman Rasaki Kasali leads officials and residents in clean-up
- Exercise covers Lekki Free Zone, Dangote axis, and riverine communities
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lekki Local Council Development Area on Saturday recorded a widespread and impactful environmental sanitation exercise, as residents joined government officials in a coordinated effort to clean and maintain communities across the LCDA.
The exercise, which forms part of the monthly environmental sanitation programme, witnessed active participation across key areas including the Lekki Free Zone and Dangote Refinery axis, as well as communities such as Osoroko, Lekki Town, Apakin, Idasho, Idotun, Lekuru, Imobido, Okunraye, Olomowewe, and Folu.
Leading the exercise was the Executive Chairman, Rasaki Bamidele Kasali, who was fully on ground alongside council executives, councillors, supervisors, special advisers, and other top officials.
Also present were security personnel, the Secretary to the Local Government, Heads of Departments, PSP operators, and sanitation officers, all working together to ensure effective compliance and coordination.
The sanitation exercise involved clearing of drainages, sweeping of streets, evacuation of waste, and cleaning of public spaces, with residents and traders actively participating in improving their immediate environment.
Speaking during the exercise, Chairman Kasali emphasized that environmental cleanliness requires continuous effort and shared responsibility.
“Sanitation is not a one-off activity; it is a culture that must be sustained. Every resident has a role to play in keeping our environment clean,” he said.
He further reiterated that the monthly sanitation exercise would be sustained, adding that enforcement measures would be strengthened to ensure compliance across all communities.
The chairman also engaged directly with residents and traders, sensitizing them on proper waste disposal practices and the need to maintain hygiene beyond the sanitation hours.
Observers noted that the strong turnout and active involvement of both government officials and residents reflect growing awareness and commitment to environmental sustainability within the LCDA.
The exercise aligns with the broader directive of the Lagos State Government on public hygiene and flood control, particularly as the rainy season approaches.
With continued leadership and community participation, Lekki LCDA is steadily advancing efforts to create a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable environment for all.
