The action came to light through a post on the official Facebook page of Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, the Honorable Commissioner for Environment, Lagos State.

“KAI officials are clearing miscreants occupying the pedestrian bridge at PWD, Ikeja,” the commissioner’s post stated. “Also, 17 people using the pedestrian bridges as accommodation and using the vandalized roofs as beds were arrested at Dopemu, Onilekere, and Shogunle, Oshodi. They will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.”
The crackdown underscores the Lagos State Government’s commitment to maintaining public order, ensuring the safety and proper utilization of infrastructure, and upholding environmental laws.
By evicting these illegal occupants, the authorities aim to restore the pedestrian bridges to their intended purpose, facilitating safe and unobstructed movement for pedestrians.
The Commissioner’s statement serves as a stern warning to those who might consider occupying pedestrian bridges or engaging in other forms of environmental violations. Offenders face the prospect of prosecution, as the state remains steadfast in its efforts to promote a clean, orderly, and law-abiding environment for all residents.
