During a press conference held on Saturday, ASUU outlined various demands and challenges affecting the quality of teaching and learning at LASUED’s two campuses in Epe and Ijanikin.

These concerns included inadequate staff welfare packages, insufficient facilities, unstable electricity supply, a lack of internet connectivity, and an imbalanced admission process.

LASUED’s Vice-Chancellor, Bidemi Lafiaji-Okunneye, acknowledged the institution’s recent accreditation by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and noted the commission’s commendation for improvements made to the university’s infrastructure and amenities.

Okunneye refuted the union’s claims as trumped-up allegations, emphasizing that the management had consistently demonstrated commitment to fostering a conducive learning environment.

Despite the institution’s limited internally generated revenue, Ms. Lafiaji-Okunneye highlighted the significant strides made over the past two years in refurbishing lecture theatres and office buildings to promote effective teaching and learning.

While the vice-chancellor did not disclose any specific resolutions reached with ASUU-LASUED during the meetings, she urged the union to adhere to stipulated labor regulations and engage in constructive dialogue, rather than resorting to disruptive actions.
