Los Angeles Metro Train Collides With USC Shuttle Bus, Resulting In Over 55 Injuries And Investigation By LAPD

EKO HOT BLOG reports at least 55 people were injured, two seriously, in a collision between a Metro light rail train and a University of Southern California shuttle bus on Exposition Boulevard in downtown Los Angeles.

The crash occurred near the USC campus and Natural History Museum, just before noon, as confirmed by the L.A. Fire Department.

Two victims with serious injuries were hospitalized, while 16 others were in fair condition and 37 were treated at the scene.

 

According to Dave Sotero, a spokesperson for L.A. Metro, the bus crossed into the path of an E Line train, which operates from East Los Angeles to downtown Santa Monica.

Genesis Hernandez, a 19-year-old college student, witnessed the aftermath from a nearby platform.

Television footage depicted significant damage to the front section of the bus, which was crushed against the train.

 

The Starcraft 40-passenger bus was carrying only the driver and one passenger at the time of the collision, according to USC Transportation.

Both were severely injured. Over 150 passengers were on the Santa Monica-bound Metro train.

The Los Angeles Police Department will lead the investigation, with Metro expressing sympathy for those injured.
