EKO HOT BLOG reports that among the hardest-hit communities are Kichinga (the birthplace of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri), Mildu, Maradi, Mayo Wandu, Shuware, Pambla 2, and Palam.
The Executive Chairman of Madagali Local Government Area, Hon. Simon Musa, confirmed the disaster in a statement over the weekend, noting that some of these areas had never before experienced such devastation.
He mentioned that thousands of displaced individuals are currently seeking shelter in ten temporary camps that have been established.
Musa attributed the flooding to intense rainfall on the Mandara mountain, which led to erosion and damage to the Shuwa Bridge, as well as the destruction of homes, food supplies, and farmland.
He urged the federal and state governments and humanitarian organizations to provide immediate assistance to the affected areas.
