Osun Govt Begins Free Eye Tests, Glasses, Surgeries for 345,000 Pupils

- Osun State Government to provide free eye screenings for 345,000 public school pupils under the Imole School Eye Health Programme.
- Pupils with refractive errors will receive corrective glasses, while those needing medication or surgery will get appropriate treatment.
- Screenings begin on February 24, with refraction, glasses, and corrective surgeries scheduled from February 27 to March 7.
The Osun State Government has announced that approximately 345,000 pupils in public primary and secondary schools across the state will benefit from the Imole School Eye Health Programme.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking on Tuesday, the Executive Secretary of the Osun Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Rasaq Akindele, stated that the initiative would provide comprehensive eye screenings and examinations for all beneficiaries.

Pupils diagnosed with refractive errors will receive corrective spectacles, while those requiring medication will be provided with appropriate drugs. Additionally, cases requiring surgical intervention will be addressed.
“There are 345,000 pupils and students in these schools, and all of them will be screened and examined. Those with refractive errors will be provided with corrective spectacles, and those in need of medication will receive it. Those whose conditions necessitate surgical interventions will be accorded the opportunity,” Akindele said.
The school-based screenings will begin on February 24, followed by refraction, provision of glasses, medication, and corrective surgeries from February 27 to March 7.
