President Buhari Prays For Speedy Recovery As Pope Francis Undergoes Surgery

- According to Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni, the pope had surgery for “colon diverticulitis.”
President Muhammadu Buhari has sent across a get-well message to the Head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis as he heads in for a scheduled surgery of the colon.
The president’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, confirmed this in a statement in Abuja on Sunday.
Roman Catholic church head, Pope Francis underwent surgery hours after attending the traditional Sunday Angelus prayer in St. Peter’s Square on Sunday July 4, the Vatican announced.

According to Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni, the pope had surgery for “colon diverticulitis.”
The Holy See press office said in a statement: “This afternoon his Holiness Pope Francis went to the Gemelli hospital — Rome — for a scheduled surgical intervention for a symptomatic stenotic diverticulitis. Surgery will be carried out by professor Sergio Alfieri. At the end of the surgery a medical bulletin will be issued.”

Buhari called for prayers from Nigerians and the global community as the Pontiff goes in for this routine operation.
President Buhari also wished Pope Francis a quick recovery.
