The briefing was organised to mark the third year of the second term of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
According to Agoro, a total of ₦8,042,264,264.91 was paid to retirees, reflecting the administration’s commitment to both serving and retired public servants.
“The payment of over eight billion Naira to retirees demonstrates unwavering commitment of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration to the welfare of serving and retired public servants,” he said.
He added that the Lagos public service has continued to show resilience, professionalism and dedication in sustaining governance across the state.
Agoro revealed that 4,837 newly recruited officers had been deployed to different Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), while 38 political appointees were also captured on the government’s Soft Suite database.
He further disclosed that 185 newly recruited and converted administrative and human resource officers underwent familiarisation tours to improve their understanding of public service operations.
The Head of Service also said Governor Sanwo-Olu approved the appointment of 25 substantive directors on Grade Level 17 as permanent secretaries and tutors-general.
On workers’ welfare, Agoro stated that the state government gave workers ₦50,000 each as a palliative in May, while pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme received an additional ₦32,000 monthly pension increment.

“We also flagged off the annual health screening tagged ‘Public Servants, Know Your Numbers’ to encourage regular medical checks among workers for improved productivity and longevity,” he added.
He said the state honoured 750 public servants during the 16th edition of the Lagos State Long Service Merit Award for spending at least 30 years in service.
According to him, the beneficiaries included six permanent secretaries and 744 officers across different cadres.
Agoro also disclosed that during the annual Public Service Week celebration, 177 outstanding officers received plaques and cash rewards, while five senior officers were presented with brand new cars.
In addition, five junior officers received ₦5 million each through a ballot system, while the governor approved extra cash gifts worth ₦130.5 million for other exceptional workers.
The Head of Service said 17 retired permanent secretaries were celebrated during the 2025 Pens Down Ceremony in recognition of their contributions to the state.
On housing support, Agoro disclosed that the Lagos State Staff Housing and Loans Board disbursed ₦1.59 billion in housing loans to 2,033 beneficiaries within one year.
He also said Governor Sanwo-Olu approved a ₦1 billion yearly car refurbishment loan scheme for public servants, with 422 officers already benefiting from the initiative.
Agoro added that Wing A of a newly constructed residential building at Isale-Gangan on Lagos Island had been approved for allocation to public servants.
Speaking on innovation and reforms, he said the Lagos State Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation helped the state achieve an 85.6 per cent score in the 2025 Subnational Ease of Doing Business Report.
“Lagos emerged as the Best Subnational for Ease of Doing Business in 2025,” he said.
He also noted that over 876 officers were trained under the Growth Mindset advocacy programme, while 37 Creativity and Innovation Ambassadors were introduced across MDAs.
The state’s Public Service Ideas Day competition also produced three innovations — EKOscribe, an AI-powered knowledge platform; BKind, an anti-bullying educational game; and SmartBOQ, a digital solution for managing bills of quantities.
Agoro further revealed that the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency processed 6,590 approval requests through its e-procurement system and inspected 252 capital projects between May 2025 and April 2026.
