In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu noted that the election comes at a crucial period when the United Nations is implementing financial reforms and institutional adjustments aimed at improving accountability, efficiency and long-term sustainability.
The President said Ambassador Ibrahim’s emergence as chairman of the influential committee shortly after assuming his duties at the UN reflects the confidence the international community has in his abilities.
“Your election to chair this important committee within weeks of official resumption at the UN validates your wealth of experience in public service, diplomacy, business leadership and governance, particularly as a member of the Nigerian Senate Committee on Budget and Appropriation and Chairman of Inter-Parliamentary Relations,” Tinubu stated.
He added that Ibrahim’s experience in both the public and private sectors has equipped him with the strategic leadership required to guide the committee at a critical stage in the United Nations’ reform process.
According to the President, the Nigerian envoy’s background as a legal scholar and his expertise in international taxation and business administration have distinguished him as a respected voice in global governance and financial management.

Tinubu expressed confidence that Ibrahim would justify the trust placed in him by both Nigeria and the international community through effective leadership and meaningful contributions to the work of the committee.
The President also expressed optimism that the appointment would further enhance Nigeria’s profile on the global stage while supporting the broader objectives of the United Nations.
“Congratulations once again on this remarkable achievement and on the confidence reposed in you by the international community,” Tinubu said.
