Tinubu Meets With National Assembly Members-Elect

EKO HOT BLOG reports that top officials of Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), are currently holding a meeting with newly-elected senators and members of the House of Representatives at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting is aimed at addressing issues surrounding the zoning of key positions in the National Assembly, as well as a call for the resignation of the party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, and national secretary, Iyiola Omisore.

In attendance at the meeting are the President-elect, Bola Tinubu; Vice President-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima; APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore; and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC).
Also present are Senate President, Ahmad Lawan; Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu; former Senate Leader, Senator Ali Ndume; the senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, Ogun East Senator, Solomon Adeola, and several others.
The meeting is expected to address the issue of zoning the Senate Presidency, Speaker for the House of Representatives, and other principal offices of the National Assembly ahead of the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly in June. The APC leadership is also expected to address the call for the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu and Iyiola Omisore.
Journalists were not allowed to cover the meeting, but it is believed that the APC leadership is working towards reaching a consensus on the zoning of key positions in the National Assembly to avoid any potential power struggles or conflicts.
