EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to the former governor, Nigerians should not expect a divine being to descend from heaven to solve the country’s challenges, insisting that Tinubu is already the “angel” chosen to drive Nigeria’s transformation.
He said, “We will not wait for God to send an angel with wings to fly into Nigeria to fix it. Did I tell you who the angel is? The angel is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. If you are waiting for that animation of an angel flying into Nigeria to fix it, you will wait forever.”
Bello told supporters that Nigerians had long yearned for a “new Nigeria” and commended Tinubu for taking bold steps such as removing fuel subsidies, introducing student loans, floating the naira, and implementing policies aimed at improving government and individual wealth.
He stated, “Before 2015, we said we wanted a new Nigeria where there would be no oil subsidy, where there would be student loans, where the exchange rate would be floated, and where more money would circulate. We also said we wanted a Nigeria that would attract foreign investments, and today, all that is happening.”
Bello acknowledged that Tinubu’s reforms would take time to yield full results, noting that the long years of systemic decay could not be fixed overnight. He called on Nigerians to remain patient and support the administration’s efforts.
“Those who recognise we are already in the new Nigeria can see the infrastructures being fixed. No government can fix everything at once. It will take a while, but President Tinubu is fixing it, and we will continue to support him,” he said.
The former governor also emphasised the importance of legacy in governance, stressing that leadership without a lasting impact is meaningless. “Going into the future, we want a situation where Mr. President will leave a legacy that we, and well-meaning Nigerians, will uphold because leadership without legacy is zero,” Bello stated.
He expressed personal satisfaction with his own achievements, saying, “Today, I am happy and fulfilled. This is my legacy, and these are my legacies. Some of my legacies are watching me.”
Bello’s remarks come as political momentum grows ahead of the 2027 general elections, with President Tinubu expected to seek re-election.
