UPDATED: Retired MOCPED Chief Lecturer kidnapped in Epe

There was palpable tension within Michael Otedola College of Primary Education (MOCPED) and Odo-Noforija area of Epe Division, Lagos State, on Monday, June 7, 2021, as news rented the air that a retired Chief lecturer in the School of Sciences, Department of Integrated Science, Dr TL Ibrahim, had been kidnapped.
Sources told Eko Hot Blog that the incident took place on Monday evening at his Iragunshin residence.
According to the source, who declined to be named, the abductors had laid siege in a Black Honda Element, in anticipation of the Academician’s return, before whisking him away just when he was within touching distance of the gate to his residence.
Another source said that the kidnappers, who also commandeered Mr Ibrahim’s vehicle, a Hyndai SUV, sped off the neighbourhood with both cars. The source stated that the car was sighted along the Epe-Ijebu-Ode expressway speeding suspiciously. It was reported that Police officers who saw the vehicles said that the criminals were headed towards the Ondo-Ore expressway.

In a statement e-signed by the Union PRO tagged “Kidnap of Dr T.L Ibraheem: Appeal for Prayers by COEASU-MOCPED,” made available to Ekohotblog, the College of Education Academic Staff Union of MOCPED, COEASU-MOCPED, confirmed the abduction of the veteran Academician.
“Dr TL Ibrahim, former staff of the Department of Integrated Science was kidnapped by unknown men in front of his house at Odo Iragunshin, Eredo, Epe this evening around 6 p.m. Let’s remember him in our Prayers. May Almighty Allah intervene and touch the hearts of the perpetrators for his prompt and unconditional release.”
We are advised to be watchful and security conscious in our neighbourhood as the social menace is alarming and becoming unabated
May we not fall prey to our enemies Amen.”
It remains unclear why Mr. Ibrahim was kidnapped as the abductors are yet to reach out with regard to the conditions to be met to guarantee his release.
As at the time of filing this report, efforts to track down the kidnappers proved abortive, as the police have been unable to pick up any trail or thread as to where Mr Ibrahim had been taken.
