Fresh divisions have emerged within the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after a faction aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, announced the suspension of former Deputy National Chairman, Bode George, alongside 23 other party members.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the decision was made public on Friday through a statement issued by the state disciplinary committee and signed by its chairman, Kayode Ogunbiyi, and secretary, Desmond Agbo.

According to the committee, the affected members were sanctioned following allegations of actions considered detrimental to the party’s interests and violations of its constitution.
The statement explained that the disciplinary panel reached its decision after reviewing several petitions during a meeting held on May 26, where complaints relating to party disloyalty and constitutional breaches were examined.

The committee stated that disciplinary measures became necessary to preserve unity and prevent activities capable of creating division within the party.
It further noted that Bode George’s case received special attention during deliberations, with members of the panel affirming an earlier disciplinary action reportedly taken against him and maintaining that the sanction should remain in force.
Several other prominent party members were also affected by the suspension, including Aduke Maina, Abimbola Ogunkelu, Laja Adeoye, Tunji Shele, Sunday Olaifa, Gbenga Adegbesan, Rita Orji, Kofoworola Bucknor and Onikepo Oshodi.
According to the committee, some of those sanctioned were accused of maintaining relationships with rival political groups or participating in political activities deemed inconsistent with the objectives of the PDP.

The faction warned that the suspended members would not be permitted to take part in party programmes or act on behalf of the PDP in any capacity while the disciplinary action remains in effect.
It also cautioned that additional measures could be taken against anyone found engaging in activities considered harmful to the party’s interests.
The latest development highlights the lingering internal disagreements within the Lagos PDP, where rival blocs have continued to clash over the direction and leadership of the party.
Efforts to obtain Bode George’s reaction were unsuccessful as calls to his telephone line did not connect and messages sent to him were yet to be delivered at the time of filing this report.
