France has assured Nigeria of deeper collaboration in the fight against terrorism after a fresh round of discussions between President Bola Tinubu and French President Emmanuel Macron.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Macron, in a message shared on Sunday, reaffirmed France’s backing for Nigeria as the country battles multiple security threats, especially the persistent attacks in the northern region.

According to him, Paris is ready to scale up its cooperation with Nigerian authorities and expand humanitarian assistance to communities affected by violence.
Macron noted that the rising spread of extremist groups demands stronger global attention, stressing that the international community cannot afford to look away.
He wrote that, at Tinubu’s request, France would increase technical and strategic support, while encouraging other partners to intensify their engagement.

His remarks come shortly after the United States redesignated Nigeria as a “country of particular concern” over alleged religious-related violations—making Macron the first world leader to openly address the development.
France and Nigeria have built a robust defence relationship over the years with joint maritime patrols, training programmes and security technology exchange forming key components of their partnership.
