Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State, has approved a N10,000 transportation allowance for state workers to help offset the impact of rising petrol prices.
The announcement was made by the Nigeria Labour Congress chairman, Kayode Martins, in Ibadan, noting that the allowance was a response to formal requests from the state NLC, Eko Hot Blog gathered.

“The Sate Government has approved a N10,000 transportation allowance for all workers, effective from April 2026, to ease the burden of increased commuting costs,” the statement said.

It added that the measure comes after sustained advocacy by the NLC to mitigate rising living expenses for the workforce.
Governor Makinde confirmed the allowance during the launch of the N1.5 billion YEAP-SAfER disbursement program, stating that the relief would initially cover three months starting in April.
