Mustapha Sule Lamido has officially joined the race for the 2027 Jigawa State governorship after obtaining the nomination form of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the former PDP governorship candidate in 2023 presented his completed form to the party’s state working committee and key stakeholders on Tuesday in Dutse, seeking their backing to contest under the party’s platform.

Addressing party members, Lamido said he had concluded wide consultations and was now ready to pursue the party’s ticket.
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP, describing it as a strong and resilient platform capable of overcoming internal challenges.
He expressed confidence that the PDP remains best positioned to address the developmental needs of Jigawa State, arguing that the party still enjoys public trust.

According to him, the PDP has a track record of implementing policies and programmes that directly impact citizens, unlike other parties that assumed power afterward.
Lamido criticised rival political parties, claiming they had failed to deliver on governance and had worsened the country’s socio-economic and security situation.
He called on party members in Jigawa to unite and support his ambition ahead of the 2027 elections, pledging to uphold the PDP’s principles of service and commitment to the people.
The aspirant, who is the son of former Jigawa State governor Sule Lamido, said his candidacy is driven by a desire to restore effective leadership and rebuild public confidence in governance within the state.
