Troops of the Nigerian Army, working alongside operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), have arrested a man suspected of manufacturing explosives for the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), during a joint operation in Abia State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the arrest was disclosed by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who cited security sources familiar with the operation.

According to the sources, the intelligence-led raid was carried out at about 3:50 a.m. on July 12 at Ummuene community in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of the state.
The operation involved troops from the Headquarters, 14 Brigade, in collaboration with DSS operatives from the Abia and Enugu State Commands, who reportedly stormed the suspect’s hideout after acting on credible intelligence.

Security sources described the suspect as an alleged explosives-making specialist linked to the IPOB/ESN network.
During the operation, security personnel recovered two mobile phones believed to be relevant to ongoing investigations.
The suspect and the recovered items have since been handed over to the DSS Abia State Command for further investigation and other necessary actions.
Security sources said the arrest forms part of sustained intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling criminal and extremist networks operating across the South East.
