“New dates for the congresses will be announced in due course,” Morka said.
Meanwhile, the APC Caretaker Committee Chairman in Rivers State, Tony Okocha, reiterated the party’s commitment to holding the state government accountable. Speaking during a forum organized by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, Okocha emphasized the party’s role as an opposition force in the state.
He stated, “It is the responsibility of the APC, as an opposition party in Rivers, to checkmate the activities of the state government. Our position is to speak for the voiceless through constructive criticism and point out areas where the state government falls short.”
Okocha also said that the APC is focused on “demarketing” Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), aiming to consolidate support ahead of the 2027 elections. He emphasized that their goal is to weaken opposition parties to ensure a smoother path for the APC in the upcoming presidential election.
Additionally, he criticized former Minister of Works, Rotimi Amaechi, accusing him of personalizing the party’s leadership in Rivers State. Okocha said the APC is working to rebuild itself as a credible opposition force, distancing itself from Amaechi’s previous influence, which he described as turning the party into a “social club.”
