The motorcycles were presented to the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Muwon Security Group, Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LSNC), Eredo Security Forum, and Ilara Security Joint Task Force (JTF) to enhance mobility, surveillance, and rapid response to security challenges.
The Executive Chairman of Eredo LCDA, Hon. Monsuru Akinloye, also extended his support for enhanced security operations with the donation of a patrol van to strengthen surveillance and rapid response across the council area.
The patrol van, alongside the distributed motorcycles, is expected to improve mobility for security personnel, boost patrol coverage across communities, and enhance overall emergency response capacity.
The gesture further demonstrates the chairman’s commitment to ensuring a safer environment for residents and supporting all security formations in the effective discharge of their duties within Eredo LCDA.
The presentation was performed by traditional rulers present at the meeting, including the Aladeshoyin of Odo-Noforija Kingdom, Oba Babatunde Ola-Ogun Ogunlaja;
the Aladepekun of Odo-Egiri; the Aladegbowojo of Odo-Gbawojo; the Orijeru of Igbooye; the Alade Uraka of Poka Land; and the representative of the Alara of Ilara Kingdom.
The monarchs applauded the chairman’s security initiatives and praised his administration’s continuous efforts to promote peace, stability, and development throughout the council area.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Akinloye stressed that security remains a collective responsibility and called on residents to be more security conscious in their daily activities.
“Security is everyone’s responsibility. Residents must remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to the appropriate authorities.
We must also avoid spreading false rumours capable of creating unnecessary fear and tension within our communities,” he said.
The chairman explained that the motorcycles would strengthen the operational capacity of security agencies, enabling them to respond more effectively to emergencies and security threats across the council area.
He also addressed landlords and property owners, urging them to exercise caution when renting out their properties.
“Landlords should not be driven solely by the desire to make money. They must know the people they are renting their houses to and properly verify their identities.
We must not allow criminal elements to gain access to our communities simply because they can afford the rent,” he stated.
Hon. Akinloye further advised landlords to moderate rental charges and closely monitor activities within their properties to ensure that their houses are not used for criminal activities.
“Property owners must pay attention to what goes on within their premises. When landlords know their tenants and monitor activities around them, it becomes easier to prevent crime and maintain peace within our communities,” he added.
Also speaking at the meeting, Captain Enye emphasized the importance of vigilance and responsible information sharing among residents.
“People must remain alert and security conscious at all times.
However, we should always speak the truth and avoid circulating unverified information that can create panic among residents.
False information can cause unnecessary tension and undermine the efforts of security agencies,” he said.
Cor Enye urged residents to cooperate with security personnel by providing timely and credible information capable of assisting investigations and preventing criminal activities.
According to him, effective security depends on collaboration between residents, traditional institutions, community leaders, and security agencies.
Stakeholders at the meeting commended the chairman for his proactive approach to security and described the motorcycle donation as a significant boost to the operational effectiveness of security agencies within Eredo LCDA.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by residents, security agencies, traditional rulers, and community leaders to continue working together to sustain peace, protect lives and property, and promote development across Eredo LCDA.
