FBI’s 10 Most Wanted Fugitive Arnoldo Jimenez Captured in Mexico After 12 Years

Arnoldo Jimenez, a fugitive on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted list for allegedly killing his wife on their wedding night, has been captured in Monterrey, Mexico, after more than 12 years on the run, according to the FBI Chicago.
EKO HOT BLOG gathered that Jimenez was arrested without incident on Thursday, in connection with the 2012 murder of 26-year-old Estrella Carrera. Carrera’s body was found on May 13, 2012, in the bathtub of her Burbank, Illinois, apartment, just two days after her marriage to Jimenez.
He was charged with first-degree murder, and a state arrest warrant was issued on May 15, 2012. A federal warrant followed two days later after Jimenez was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

The successful capture resulted from a collaborative effort between FBI Chicago, FBI San Antonio, FBI LEGAT Mexico City, and the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of Illinois, with assistance from the Fiscalía General de la República and the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).
FBI Chicago Special Agent in Charge Douglas S. DePodesta praised the cooperation among law enforcement agencies, stating, “The FBI will use all of its available resources to bring criminals to justice, no matter how much time has passed or where they may be in the world.”

Burbank Police Deputy Chief William Casey also commended the dedication of all involved, emphasizing that the arrest was the result of “tireless teamwork.”
Jimenez will remain in custody pending extradition proceedings. He was the fourth-most wanted fugitive in the U.S. at the time of his capture.
