The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, has announced plans for the Greater Lagos Countdown 2025. The event is scheduled for December 31 and promises an exciting 24-hour celebration to welcome the New Year.
In a statement, Benson-Awoyinka described the countdown as an opportunity to bring Lagosians together and celebrate the rich culture and diversity of the state. The event will feature top music acts like Wizkid, Burna Boy, Seyi Vibez, and Olamide, among others.
Performances will take place across five key locations representing the IBILE divisions:
- Ikorodu Town Hall
- Badagry Grammar School
- Agege Stadium
- Epe Recreation Centre
- Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS)

The commissioner said, “This is more than just a celebration. It is a chance to showcase the vibrant spirit of Lagos through music, food, dance, and cultural displays. The highlight of the night will be the breathtaking fireworks at midnight.”
Benson-Awoyinka assured attendees that adequate security measures would be in place across all venues. She encouraged residents and visitors to join the festivities and experience the energetic Lagos atmosphere as the city welcomes 2025 in style.
Other attractions include cultural performances, food fairs, and activities designed to reflect the essence of Lagos. The commissioner described the Greater Lagos Countdown as a long-standing tradition of celebrating the year’s end with joy and welcoming the New Year with grandeur.
