Dele Farotimi, a well-known human rights activist and lawyer, was arrested earlier

Human rights activist and lawyer Dele Farotimi was reportedly arrested earlier today by unidentified men at his office in Lekki Phase 1.

Eyewitness accounts reveal that Farotimi was forcefully taken away in a black tinted van, sparking widespread concern about his safety and well-being.

According to an eyewitness, who works in a nearby office, the men arrived in two unmarked vehicles, including the black van, and entered Farotimi’s premises.

“I saw four men in plain clothes walk into the office. Minutes later, they came out with him. He didn’t look like he was resisting, but you could tell something wasn’t right,” the witness, who requested anonymity, said.

Another eyewitness, a security guard in the area, described the scene as tense. “The men didn’t say much, but one of them was carrying a document that looked official. They bundled him into the van and sped off,” the guard recounted.

Farotimi’s phone has remained unreachable since the incident, and as of this report, no security agency has taken responsibility for the arrest.

His detention has ignited outrage across the human rights community, with activists demanding his immediate release and calling for answers.

“This is not just about Dele; this is about the suppression of voices speaking out for justice and human rights. We will not stay silent,” said a colleague and fellow activist.

The arrest comes amidst heightened tensions over recent criticisms Farotimi has made regarding governance and human rights abuses in the country. Many fear the incident might be politically motivated.

This is a developing story, and further updates will follow as more details emerge.
