- ‘I’ll Respect Judicial Process,’ Biden Speaks Over Hunter’s Criminal Charges
- Joe Biden said he will not challenge the federal jury verdict
- The president said he and First Lady Jill Biden will always be there for Hunter
Eko Hot Blog reports that President Joe Biden, on Tuesday, said he will not contest the federal jury’s verdict finding his son, Hunter Biden, guilty of three criminal gun charges.
“As I said last week, I am the President, but I am also a Dad. Jill and I love our son, and we are so proud of the man he is today,” Biden remarked, making his first public comment since his son was convicted in U.S. District Court in Delaware.
“Many families who have watched loved ones battle addiction understand the immense pride in seeing someone you care about emerge strong and resilient in recovery,” the president continued. “As I mentioned last week, I will accept the outcome of this case and respect the judicial process as Hunter considers an appeal.”

He added that he and First Lady Jill Biden “will always be there for Hunter and the rest of our family with our love and support. Nothing will ever change that.”
Hunter Biden expressed disappointment with the verdict in a statement but acknowledged the support of his wife, Melissa Biden, and his family and friends.
“Recovery is possible by the grace of God, and I am blessed to experience that gift one day at a time,” he said.
His attorney, Abbe Lowell, said, “We are naturally disappointed by today’s verdict. We respect the jury process, and as we have done throughout this case, we will continue to vigorously pursue all the legal challenges available to Hunter.”
The jury convicted Hunter Biden, 54, on three counts related to his October 2018 purchase and possession of a revolver while using illicit drugs. Federal prosecutors alleged he lied on a federal background check form when he claimed he was not using illegal drugs or addicted to them.
The verdict, delivered after just three hours of deliberation over two days, marks the first time a son of a sitting U.S. president has been found guilty of crimes. Hunter Biden faces a separate trial on federal tax charges in September.
