EKO HOT BLOG reports that the announcement was made in Abuja by the Senior Special Adviser to the Interim National Chairman on Media, Ken Eluma Asogwa. Initially, the schedule had set ward congresses for March 26, local government congresses for March 28, state congresses for March 31, and the national convention for April 11, 2026.
According to Asogwa, the postponement follows consultations with key stakeholders, including members of the Interim National Working Committee and representatives of labour unions. “As part of efforts to ensure inclusiveness, the postponement was aimed at providing ample opportunity for members and prospective Nigerians to participate fully in the ongoing membership re-registration exercise,” he said.
In line with the rescheduled activities, the party inaugurated a 45-member Congress and Convention Committee to oversee the process. The committee is chaired by Ginger Onwusibe, representing Isiala Ngwa South/Isiala Ngwa North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. Other members include Comrade Salisu N. Mohammed, Hon Obinna Aguocha, Hon Amaobi Ogah, Hon Ibe Okwara, Hon Alex Mascot Ikwechegh, and Hon Alozie Munachim Ikechi, among others.
National Chairman Nenadi Usman urged the committee to approach its task with diligence and neutrality. “I urge you to take full advantage of the postponement to ensure that all necessary preparations are thoroughly completed, guaranteeing hitch-free congresses and conventions,” she said.

The party appealed for understanding from members, the Independent National Electoral Commission, and supporters nationwide, promising that a new timetable would be announced soon. Usman reaffirmed the party’s commitment to a transparent and credible process.
