Lagos Allocates 23% Of 2024 Budget To Infrastructure Development

The Lagos State Government allocated 23% of its 2024 budget to infrastructural renewal and development to modernize the city and support its growing population.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Lagos State Government has disclosed that 23% of the 2024 budget has been allocated to infrastructural renewal and development across the state.
Ope George, the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, revealed this on Wednesday during the 2025 budget consultative forum for the Ikeja Division, held in Agidingbi, Ikeja.

George explained that the forum aimed to inform the public about the government’s plans for the remainder of 2024, focus areas for 2025, and promote citizen participation in budget preparation.
He said, “The Lagos State Government allocated 23% of the 2024 budget to its Economic Affairs Sector to support infrastructural renewal and development, modernize the city, and cater to its growing population.
“The state launched several initiatives and projects to improve the standard of living, build infrastructure, ensure food security, enhance ease of doing business, provide affordable public transportation, and improve energy supply.”

“These include the rehabilitation of the Egbeda-Idimu Road, Lawal Street at Alimosho, distribution of Ounje Eko palliatives, 25 per cent transport rebate, 25 per cent food discount, and 400 Small and Medium Scale beneficiaries who received N277,972,6422 between January and June 2024.

In his remarks, the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Economic Planning and Budget, Lekan Balogun, urged citizens of the state to fulfill their civic responsibilities by paying their taxes as and when due.
