The Lagos State Government has disclosed that no fewer than 859 traffic offenders were arrested and prosecuted across the Lagos Island and Ikeja business districts in recent times as part of efforts to restore order and improve traffic management.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Central Business Districts, Bola Olumegbon-Lawal, revealed this during the 2026 Ministerial Press Briefing marking the third year of the governor’s second-term administration.

According to her, 24 tricycles were also arrested and prosecuted for various traffic-related offences, including illegal parking, unlawful U-turns, traffic light violations and driving against traffic.
Olumegbon-Lawal stated that the Lagos State Central Business Districts (CBDs) had remained committed over the past year to improving the business environment and enhancing the quality of life for residents, business owners and visitors.
She, however, noted that the agency had faced several operational challenges while enforcing law and order across the districts.
The special adviser recalled that officials of the agency had, on different occasions, come under attack from individuals allegedly linked to the National Union of Road Transport Workers and suspected hoodlums popularly referred to as area boys.
Despite the challenges, she said the agency had continued to carry out training and retraining programmes, as well as safety and rescue operations across the business districts.
