“My Mother Was My Greatest Supporter “– Prof. Oladipupo Basirat

It was a beehive of activities when family, friends, and dignitaries gathered on January 31st, 2025, to honour and give Alhaja Sherifat Oladipupo her last respect at her 8-day Fidau prayer.

Her daughter, Professor Oladipupo Basirat, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University of Science and Technology, (LASUT) spoke emotionally about her mother’s support for her.
“My mother was my biggest supporter. She stood by me in tough times and always gave me strength. Without her, my journey would have been different. She taught me resilience, humility, and the power of prayer.
“She was a woman of great wisdom, always reminding me to stay humble and focused. She believed in hard work, honesty, and the importance of family.
“Even in her last days, she continued to encourage me, reminding me that success is not just about personal achievements but about how we uplift others.
“I will forever cherish her lessons and strive to make her proud,” she said.
A granddaughter also shared heartfelt words, she reflected on Alhaja Sherifat’s wisdom and warmth.
“She was full of love and care. Her advice still guides me today. She always said, ‘A good name is better than riches,’ and I try to live by that every day,” she said.
