Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has appealed to politicians and supporters to avoid violence and divisive rhetoric as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the governor warned that political ambition should never result in bloodshed, stressing that preserving peace and human lives must remain a priority during campaigns and other political engagements.

Eno gave the warning on Friday while addressing residents of the state during activities marking his third year in office.
He urged political actors to focus on issue-based campaigns rather than insults, personal attacks or actions capable of creating tension within the state.
According to him, Akwa Ibom has maintained relative peace because residents have continued to value unity above political interests.

The governor encouraged citizens to approach politics with maturity and sportsmanship, noting that elections are temporary but the relationship among the people will outlive political contests.
He said his administration had remained committed to inclusive governance, adding that he had fulfilled his promise to serve all Akwa Ibom people regardless of political affiliation.
Eno also reiterated his commitment to sustaining peace throughout his tenure, declaring that his leadership would continue to be guided by faith, unity and reconciliation.
Speaking further, the governor said the state’s political message going into the next election cycle would centre on unity and collective progress.
He maintained that Akwa Ibom people must remain united and continue to protect one another irrespective of political differences.

The governor also used the occasion to highlight projects and achievements recorded by his administration in sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, aviation and education.
He attributed the successes of his government to the support, prayers and cooperation of residents across the state.
Eno added that Akwa Ibom was gradually transforming into a destination attracting national attention for growth and development.
Political activities have continued to intensify across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 elections, with growing calls from leaders and stakeholders for peaceful campaigns amid concerns over rising political tension in parts of the country.
