Russian Drone, Missile Attacks Kill 12 in Ukraine

At least 12 people were killed in a series of Russian drone and missile attacks on Ukraine, which targeted residential areas and energy infrastructure.
Ukraine’s air force reported that Russia launched 123 drones and over 40 missiles on Saturday, successfully intercepting 56 drones and redirecting 61. The number of missiles downed was not disclosed.

In Poltava, a missile struck a residential building, killing eight people, including a child, and injuring 17 others.
Additionally, around 18 buildings, a kindergarten, and energy infrastructure were damaged.
In Kharkiv, a woman was killed and four others were injured in a drone strike. Meanwhile, three police officers were killed in Sumy as they patrolled during the attacks.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that six regions—Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Kyiv, Odesa, Sumy, and Zaporizhia—were affected. He called for increased support in the fight against Russian aggression, highlighting the importance of air defence systems and anti-missile weapons.

Russia’s Defence Ministry stated the attacks were focused on Ukraine’s gas and energy infrastructure, claiming to have downed 108 Ukrainian drones in the last 24 hours.
Despite efforts for a ceasefire, fighting continues, with no clear resolution in sight, as both Presidents Trump and Putin express willingness for talks, though details remain unclear.
