Represented by Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Sanwo-Olu said the initiative would be implemented through a renewed partnership between LSETF and the usadf.gov.
According to him, the administration is investing heavily in broadband infrastructure, digital government services, innovation hubs and policies designed to support entrepreneurship and economic growth under the THEMES+ development agenda.
“We are not simply aspiring to be Africa’s technology hub; we are building the conditions that make that designation earned,” the governor stated.
Sanwo-Olu described LSETF as a critical vehicle for reducing unemployment and promoting entrepreneurship through access to funding and skills development opportunities.

Highlighting achievements recorded by the agency, he disclosed that in 2025 alone, LSETF disbursed ₦1.91 billion in affordable loans to more than 4,000 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), while grants worth over ₦23 million were awarded to 65 businesses to support expansion and sustainability.
He further revealed that the agency’s graduate internship programme provided paid employment opportunities for 2,500 young people, while 1,050 persons living with disabilities received entrepreneurship training and start-up support.
Speaking at the summit, Gautier Mignot reaffirmed the commitment of the European Union to supporting Nigeria’s digital and creative economy.
Mignot noted that Nigeria’s youthful population presents both a major opportunity and a challenge, stressing that sustainable job creation would be essential to unlocking the country’s economic potential.
Also speaking, Annett Günther said Nigeria is strategically positioned to lead Africa’s technology-driven future, particularly through innovation, artificial intelligence and green technology.
Earlier, Omniverse Africa Co-Convener Charles Emembolu said Africa’s greatest resource remains its people, noting that collaboration among governments, institutions and private sector players is vital to unlocking opportunities for the continent’s growing population.
