EKO HOT BLOG reports that Diri resigned from the PDP on October 15, creating political uncertainty about his next move amid growing speculation that he may defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Before his resignation, Governor Diri chaired the PDP zoning committee responsible for preparing for the party’s elective national convention slated for November 15 and 16. His departure has thrown the party’s internal arrangements into confusion, especially as he played a key role in the convention’s planning.
Speaking during a media chat on Friday in Abuja, Wike said he found Diri’s decision disappointing and unbecoming of a senior party leader.
“It is very embarrassing. The governor was the chairman of the convention committee. Diri was the chairman of the zoning committee. Even though I knew from the beginning that they were all playing games,” Wike stated.
The FCT Minister further hinted that internal party politics and personal interests might have influenced Diri’s decision to leave, stressing that such actions weaken the unity and credibility of the opposition party ahead of the upcoming convention.

As of press time, Governor Diri has not officially disclosed his reasons for resigning from the PDP or confirmed reports linking him with a potential move to the APC.
