Residents of Ochia community in Imo State have been thrown into grief and fear following the killing of their traditional ruler, Paulinus Ekwueme, alongside five other victims by unknown gunmen.
Eko Hot Blog reports that reports that the attack, which happened along Asa Awara Road in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area, has left families devastated and the entire community in shock.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that the attackers not only killed the victims but also set their bodies ablaze, deepening the trauma for residents.
For many locals, the incident is another painful reminder of growing insecurity, as similar attacks have claimed the lives of several traditional rulers in recent years.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, Henry Okoye, said the victims’ remains have been taken to the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Owerri for autopsy, while investigations continue.
The Commissioner of Police, Audu Garba Bosso, has since ordered the deployment of tactical teams and other security operatives to track down those responsible.
Security officials have also visited the community to reassure residents, many of whom are now living in fear and calling for stronger protection.
