Job Summary
We seek a highly organized and creative Gallery Manager to oversee the daily operations of our gallery. The ideal candidate will manage exhibitions, sales, and client relations while ensuring the gallery maintains its reputation for excellence. This role involves curating collections, coordinating events, managing staff, and implementing marketing strategies to attract visitors and buyers.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily gallery operations, including opening, closing, and general upkeep.
- Maintain and catalog inventory of artworks and ensure proper documentation.
- Manage exhibition installations and de-installations, ensuring proper care of artwork.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with artists, collectors, and patrons.
- Handle inquiries, negotiate sales, and manage transactions efficiently.
- Create and execute sales strategies to meet financial targets.
- Plan and execute gallery events, including openings, artist talks, and workshops.
- Coordinate with artists, curators, and vendors for seamless event execution.
- Promote events through strategic marketing efforts, including social media and press releases.
- Maintain the gallery’s website and online platforms with updated information.
- Develop promotional materials, including catalogs, flyers, and brochures.
- Recruit, train, and supervise gallery staff, interns, and volunteers.
- Liaise with artists, curators, framers, and logistics providers to ensure smooth operations.
- Prepare and manage budgets for exhibitions and events.
- Monitor sales and expenses, providing regular financial reports to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and industry regulations.
Qualifications and Skills
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Art, Art History, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5 – 7 years of proven experience in gallery management, art sales, or a similar role.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of art trends, artists, and the art market.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sales and negotiation expertise.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM tools, and social media platforms.
- Experience with art handling and installation is a plus.

Working Conditions
