The pastor’s decision, which deviates from the norm in many churches, was motivated by his concern for the economic challenges facing his congregation. With the removal of fuel subsidies and the escalating cost of living, Pastor Baruwa observed that many church members were struggling financially.
In light of these hardships, he felt compelled to alleviate their burden by discontinuing the collection of tithes and offerings.
Instead of focusing on financial contributions, Pastor Baruwa adopted a proactive approach to support his community. He initiated measures such as distributing free food to church members every month and offering essential commodities at discounted prices.
These initiatives aim to provide tangible assistance to those in need and foster a sense of solidarity within the church.
While Pastor Baruwa’s decision may invite criticism from some quarters, he remains resolute in his belief that God’s blessings are not contingent upon monetary contributions.
